Justis’s sister service, JustCite, to index titles from Canada Law Book

10th October 2008

Justis Publishing has struck a deal for its provider-neutral citator, JustCite, to index case reports back to 1898 from Canada Law Book.

Following JustCite’s recent expansions into Australia and Singapore, and forming a part of its drive to index a growing list of common-law jurisdictions’ law reports and journal articles, the key titles to be indexed in this deal are:

A leading Canadian law publisher since 1855, Canada Law Book offers a wide range of books and online services including Criminal Spectrum, Canadian Labour Law Library and BestCase, web-based research services containing Canada’s leading law reports, unreported decisions, summary services and authored treatises.

Masoud Gerami, managing director of Justis Publishing, pointed out that this is JustCite’s first such deal in North America. He said: “Canada Law Book has been a reputable publisher for many years and is the kind of company we like to work with: dynamic and independent, it’s like Justis Publishing!” He explained that the index will be of interest to practitioners and researchers from many jurisdictions including Australia and the Caribbean and, of course, the UK, adding: “we’re delighted to have come to this arrangement and look forward to working with Canada Law Book”.

Collectively the titles to be indexed cover: decisions from criminal and quasi-criminal cases from all Canadian courts and jurisdictions; cases on patents, industrial design, copyright and trade-mark law; Supreme Court of Canada decisions, leading civil and criminal cases from all common law provinces and cases of general interest from Quebec; and labour reports reporting arbitration awards and judicial decisions from all Canadian provinces and jurisdictions; all of which will enhance the precedent-finding options of common-law practitioners worldwide.
