Features of Justis

In October 2006, we launched our greatly-anticipated Justis 2.0 service.

The new version of the service provide a host of new features to help make Justis even easier to use!

Quick Search

Quick Search (pictured below) has been developed to help novice users obtain the information they need as quickly as possible. Quick Search allows you to enter any term or phrase into the search field and Justis will search all the sources you or your organisation subscribe to.

In addition, you can select a predictive text option for the Quick Search box and Justis will suggest search terms for you and as with similar web-based search engines, Quick Search assumes "and" between search terms.

Form Search

For the more advanced user, the Form Search (pictured below) allows you to search in any combination of search fields (such as Parties, Court or Subject).

New to the Form Search is the partial Reference search. You can now search for an incomplete reference using any combination of Year, Volume, Series, Page or Number.

Search Results

Significant changes have also been made to the Justis Results page (pictured below).

Results screen

Firstly, the results are provided in order of relevance to the search terms provided. Second, you can now sort the information on the results page by column - Reference, Title and Subject, and Year.

Another addition to the Results page is the Filter Results box (pictured below), which allows you to search the catchwords, reference and year field of the data displayed on the results page to find a specific document.

JustCite Information

You can now view additional JustCite information on the Document screen (pictured below).

Click the green JustCite buttons at the top of the document screen for information on where the case or legislation has been cited or considered, and on subsequent cases and related articles to find details of other information relevant to the document.

My Justis

Finally, one of the major developments to the Justis service is a new user area within the service called My Justis. Here you can view, add and delete saved searches, saved alerts and saved documents as well as view your session information by date, or client code.

The JustCite service has undergone similar improvements to its functionality and usability and was released in May 2007.
